Dr. Brad Penenberg Breakthrough Surgery
Dr. Brad Penenberg - who currently sits on the Radlink Board of Directors - recently accomplished an amazing breakthrough in total hip replacement surgery.
He completed a total hip replacement on a 65 year old male who, only a few hours post-surgery, walked. The patient was discharged shortly thereafter, six hours from the start of the procedure.
The case study is captured below directly from Dr. Penenberg's post surgery notes:
> Pt is a 65yo male w severe, activity limiting right hip pain, limp, and limb shortening as a result of advanced osteoarthritis. He underwent total hip replacement using a novel soft tissue sparing, micro-posterior approach made possible by instrumentation developed and patented by Dr Penenberg. The prosthetic devices and special instrumentation are manufactured and distributed by Wright Medical Technology of Arlington, Tennessee. Intra-operative computer guidance was provided by a digitally enhanced xray system supplied by Radlink, a southern California company specializing in state of the art accelerated imaging technology.
> The sugery began at approximately 7am and lasted 1hr and 10minutes. The patient received a spinal anesthetic and sedation. He walked with a walker and then a cane 3 times between 10am and noon. He was discharged home at 1pm.

Brad Penenberg M.D.
Dr. Penenberg is a graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine. He was a recipient of the Julius Neviaser Award in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Penenberg performed his general surgery training at Albert Einstein Hospital in New York and completed his residency at Tufts- New England Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. After his residency Dr Penenberg completed a specialty fellowship in reconstructive knee surgery at Harvard University. During this time he was a research fellow and clinical instructor at the Harvard School of Medicine. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Qualified Examiner. Dr. Penenberg's practice is centered on finding solutions for patients with problems of the hip and knee. He combines a commitment to excellence in patient care with a focus on research.
